Chilean clarinetist and composer began his clarinet performance studies at the Catholic University of Chile (1996 – 1999) with Francisco Gouet, principal clarinet of Chile’s Symphony Orchestra and music theory with professor Alejandro Reyes. In 2000 he went to study at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Belgium, with professor Eddy Vanoosthuyse and obtained a Master degree in Music Performance. In 2006 he starts the “Duo Pasels” with pianist Liselotte Sels. In addition to his classical background is he also a member of “Buhara ensemble” a trio with Turkish and jazz influences and “Maguare” a Colombian music ensemble. Daniel Pastene has performed with various ensembles and chamber music groups and has worked with artists such as Juan Parra Cancino (computer, electronic music), Nathalie Elghoul (dance), Lode Vercampt (cello), Juan Sebastian Lach (computer), Pablo Morales (piano), Pedro Guridi (clarinet), among others. He also engages in the compositions of incidental music for film and dance. And as a follow up of this work interest, in 2009 he completed a 2 years study of composition at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent under professor Frank Nuyts.
In 2010 with pianist Gabi Sultana formed a contemporary music ensemble: the “5°Ensemble”.
